The European Union The European Union was set up with the goal of ending the conflict. The European Union was created by the Masstricht Treaty on November 1, 1993. The European Union is a political and economic union between European countries which makes its own policies concerning the member's economies, societies, laws and to some extent security. The European Union may be one of the best ways to meet challenges smaller nations might struggle with such as economic growth or negotiations with larger nations. The European was not created by in one go by the Masstricht Treaty; it all started by the result of the gradual integration since 1945. The European Union was not just after peace, but it was after solutions to economic problems, such as raw materials in one country and the industry to to process them in another. In order to solve the conflict between the six neighboring states they agreed in The Treaty of Paris to form an area of free trade for several key resources including coal, steel, and iron ore.
